Manali Honeymoon: Plan Your Perfect Mountain Escape

Rohtang Pass snowfields, Solang Valley adventure sports, Old Manali café culture, and Hadimba Temple serenity — Manali has been India's favourite honeymoon hill station for good reason. Here's how to plan it right.

Why Manali Works for Honeymoons India has no shortage of romantic destinations, but Manali earns its honeymoon reputation honestly. The Beas river runs through town with a sound that makes everything else feel muted. The Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges close in from both sides so the sky is always framed by something dramatic. And the combination of mountain adventure and mountain calm — sometimes in the same afternoon — creates exactly the right mood. At 2,050 metres in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district, Manali is accessible year-round: snow in winter, flowers in spring, warm clear days in summ

Old Manali: Slow Mornings and Good Coffee Old Manali — 3 km above the main market — is a lane of apple orchards, wooden guesthouses, and cafés that have evolved into one of India's best café cultures. Café Laziz, Dylan's Toasted & Roasted, and Moondance serve excellent coffee, buckwheat pancakes, and European comfort food in rooms with mountain views. Stay here for a relaxed first day.

Hadimba Temple: Cedar Forest and Ancient Stone Built in 1553, the Hadimba Devi Temple sits in a cedar forest at the edge of Manali town. Its four-storey pagoda-style wooden architecture — carved panels at every level, surrounded by ancient trees — is architecturally unique in India. Visit at dawn or late evening when the forest atmosphere is genuinely peaceful.

Solang Valley: Adventure for Couples 12 km north of Manali, Solang Valley is the adventure hub. In winter: zorbing, skiing, snowmobiling, and snow scooters. In summer: paragliding tandem flights launched from Solang Ridge (15-20 minutes over the Kullu valley), mountain biking, and the Solang ropeway. The paragliding flight is particularly recommended for couples — the view at 2,480 metres over the valley is unforgettable.

Rohtang Pass: Your First Snowfield At 3,978 metres on the Manali-Leh Highway, Rohtang opens typically in late May and closes by October/November. For most honeymooners, it is simply the place to stand in deep snow within a few hours of town — and for many couples, the first time they have seen real snowfall. Permits required: Rohtang entry permits must be booked online 24 hours in advance. Vetesta Holidays handles this as part of all Manali packages.
